independent studio 2014
this semester was rough, and hands down not my best. i got really caught up in making what i thought others wanted to see or what i thought was “the right thing” to do. i lost sight of what i wanted to do and that showed in my work. with the exclusion of the oil painting ‘that shant be named’, the planning process for the projects i thought went well. i had a concept, and was able to articulate that concept in writing and through the successful creation of the works. even if i have to chalk most of this semester up to experience, i feel i learned a lot about myself and how i like to create art and what i want to do with my life. next semester i want to do better and focus on what i want to do, and keep building my strengths.
this second semester went a lot better i think. i was able to find some sort of structure for the class without having to plan out every little thing i would be doing, because part of how i function as an artist come with spontaneity. i was able to make what i feel is good progress with my camera, and was able to know it's inner workings better than i ever did before. it was fun for me to be able to find out more about how the workings of the camera functioned and were connected. my favorite part of this semester was hands down the BNC art show, not only was it fun getting two awards but the DLR workshop i took was so much fun and i found it so enjoyable. i don't think i'll ever forget this semester, and i'll always find my experience here worth while.
